Their devices are VERY good gear, and while you pay up for the privilege of using that gear, at least you don't get mugged for recurring maintenance just to keep it functional.Īlternatively, there was a fault in that AP, and since you spent all your money on one device, you couldn't troubleshoot the failure mode.

Do make sure you've got the latest software on it though, as there were some versions that had such issues, all solved with newer firmware. I frequently don't have my controller software up, and have no such issues. We're not using a guest portal so I'd like to be able to not have the software running at all times. I tried unchecking the Uplink Connectivity Monitor but that made no difference but outside of that I'm lost. I'm a Ubiquity noob so I don't know much about the software so I hope I'm just missing a setting somewhere. I started a ping test and the AP was very much coming online, 10 successful pings, then would drop 6, 12 successful, 4 drops, you get the idea. Updating Unifi Controller on Raspberry Pi I closed the software and it seemed to work but our user in that office said it was coming and going. I had to setup the controller on a computer at the remote office and once it contacted it, it started working immediately. I got it all setup and tested up here before we sent it off, under the impression that it didn't require a controller.

We bought a Ubiquity AP for a remote office.
